Acceptable Use Policy
QERYX is built for people who need private communication — journalists, human-rights workers, dissidents, and anyone who simply refuses to be the product. With that privacy comes a baseline of conduct we expect of everyone.
The honest constraint
QERYX is end-to-end encrypted and zero-knowledge by design. We do not scan, profile, or inspect message content. This policy therefore states the conduct we require of you and describes the limited, content-blind tools we actually have to enforce it — never a surveillance capability we do not possess and would not build.
Permitted use
QERYX is for private, lawful communication. Encrypted messengers are used by journalists, aid workers, activists, businesses, and everyday people. The vast majority of use is ordinary private conversation, and that is exactly what the product is for.
Prohibited use
You agree not to use QERYX to:
- Distribute material whose mere possession or transmission is illegal in your jurisdiction, including child sexual abuse material.
- Direct credible threats of violence at a specific person or group.
- Run mass unsolicited messaging (spam), automated bulk account creation, or fraud schemes against other people on the network.
- Attack, overload, reverse the abuse-prevention of, or attempt to compromise the QERYX infrastructure or other accounts.
- Impersonate QERYX, its operators, or another person in order to deceive and cause harm.
- Circumvent payment, tier enforcement, or rate limits through technical means.
- Use QERYX in violation of export-control or sanctions law applicable to you.
How enforcement works without reading content
Because we hold no plaintext, enforcement is content-blind. We act on the signals the carrier model permits:
- Abuse-shape signals. Account-creation rate, send-rate, and connection patterns let us throttle or block spam and automated abuse without inspecting any message.
- Your reports. If you receive abusive content, you can block the sender and submit a report. A report you choose to file may include the content you received, because it is your copy to share. We never reach into a conversation we are not party to.
- Account-level action. Where a violation is established, we can suspend or terminate the offending account. We cannot and do not retroactively read its past conversations.
Reporting abuse
To report abusive conduct or a security concern:
- In-app: block the sender and use the report control in the conversation.
- By email: abuse at qeryx.app for conduct reports; security at qeryx.app for vulnerabilities.
We review the reports we receive and act on account-level signals. We will tell you, honestly, when something is outside what a zero-knowledge carrier can do.
Consequences
Violations may result in rate limiting, suspension, or termination of the offending account under the Terms of Service. We comply with lawful legal process to the limited extent the architecture allows, as described in the Privacy Policy: we can act on account records, but we cannot produce conversation content we do not hold.
